Youth Camp
The Revival in the South Youth Camp is fast becoming an institution among Romanian and English young people. Drawing 600 young children to Bradisoara in the Carpathian Mountains it is a great chance for children from desperate backgrounds to have lots of fun and laugh as much as they can.
The camp is for children aged 5-12 in the first week and 12-18 in the second. Many of the children are from the orphanages and have been abused and neglected. The camp is a chance to show these children that God is their perfect Father. Other children come from churches throughout Romania and it is great to see children from a variety of denominations worshipping side by side.
There is a range of activities such as singing, dancing, crafts and sports throughout the day. The children receive a sermon each morning and there is chance for them to pray and worship God. It’s an incredible experience both for the team and the children.
The camp takes place in July and August and is becoming increasingly popular in Romania and the UK. In 2005 over 40 people travelled from the UK to join a large Romanian team headed by Sandu and Alex Micu. This team of mainly young people are drawn from the Lighthouse Christian Centre in Manchester, West Street Baptist Church in Crewe, Cardiff City Temple in Cardiff and top medical students through out the UK through our partnership with Medlink.
The camp is so successful that we have just bought a 6-acre site in Romania to accommodate the camp. This new site will be ready in 2007. The new site will also increase our capacity to 1,000 children.
Due to difficulties with finding a suitable site in 2006 our Youth Camp went on the road. We visited 6 locations in just over a week. Despite torrential rain we managed to open 2 new churches with great results! Full report to follow soon.
