LIM projects in Romania
The Lighthouse Centre is a truly life changing experience for the children who attend. Around 60 children from Romanian orphanages go to the centre each day to receive specialist treatment and therapy for a wide range of physical and mental disorders. Many of the children are completely withdrawn when they first attend the centre but through the care and attention of our staff we see amazing transformations.
The current state adoption scheme in Romania does not recognise any existing family bonds between orphans. No effort is made to keep brothers and sisters together when they are adopted. Many families are split up in this way with brothers and sisters losing contact and never seeing each other again. Our Family Home seeks to address this issue by giving a home to some of the children we work with through the Antioch Centre.
Through our work amongst orphanages in Romania we met Stefan Rusu. He was born with incomplete limbs and consequently abandoned in the orphanage. He is a courageous and determined little boy whose wish is to have arms and legs to be able to feed himself. LIM and our sponsors were able to meet that need!
The Revival in the South Youth Camp is fast becoming an institution among Romanian and English young people. Drawing 600 young children to Bradisoara in the Carpathian Mountains it is a great chance for children from desperate backgrounds to have lots of fun and laugh as much as they can.
