...in India
We are partnered by Bethany Fellowship for many of our projects in India including the Bible College, Bethany Children’s Home and Leper Colonies. They provide many of our hands on workers via their considerable network throughout India. That network enables our Build A Church Scheme and Send A Servant Scheme to be effective and successful across India.
LIM also manages two further childrens homes. The Lighthouse Children's Home in Goa and Charis Bhavan in Kerala.
This solid network thoughout Southern India means we are able to respond quickly in emergency situations such as the Tsunami disastor in 2005.
...in Romania
We have worked in Romania for many years and hold a great burden for the forgotten children who live in the orphanages. We are able to achieve great things on ground-level through our partnership with the Lighthouse Christian Centre in Slatina.
Our flagship project is the Lighthouse Centre which has a great reputation in Romania in providing therapy and treatment for children with a wide range of physical and mental disorders. The top floor of the LIghthouse Centre is devoted to our Family Home where 14 children have been adopted and now have a family for the first time.
Romania has a continuing problem with children in institutions and has comitted to closing all its orphanages in order to gain entry to the EU. Unfortunately this is leading to many of the older orphans being made homeless. LIM now houses 5 teenagers in their very own apartment. After spending several years in institutions this has literally given a new lease of life to these boys.
Our annual Youth Camp takes place every summer. Over 600 Romanian children, many of whom are orphans, travel into the Carpathian mountains for their holidays. We purchased our own site in 2005 and are still completing the site facilities so 2006 saw our very first Romania Roadshow. We visted many of our Romanian partner churches and held a number of missions including 2 church plants.
Our newest project in Romania is a Respite Care Home in Plopeii. This new home will provide respite care for children who are severely handicapped. This project and many of the others above are only possible due to the amazing partnership we receive from Medlink and the University College School, Frognal.
